Cultivation of Paper Mulberry
As in many parts of Japan, many areas of Shinshu with clear water used to make paper. Most of it seems to have spread as a valuable cash income as a side job during the winter season. It is said that paper was made along the river in the former Togakushi Village, the former Kinasa Village, and even around Ogawa Village in Nagano City, and was called “Yamanakagami”.
Paper mulberry still grows wild along the mountains of Hokushin. In paper memory, we are also working to find and grow the paper mulberry. Currently being cultivated in Iiyama and Kinasa. We are currently preparing for cultivation in the Netherlands.
